Vassilevi Bros. exists as a family enterprise since the beginning of the XIX century. At that time the Kiradzhiite family, from whom the company founder Vassil Nedev originates, were buying out large herds of cattle in the Dobrudzha region in north-eastern Bulgaria. They were reselling the livestock at the wholesale markets of the Osman Empire, particularly in Istanbul, by transporting the animals over land or by ships departing from the Varna seaport.
Following the enactment of the law for mandatory registration of private business enterprises in Bulgaria, Vassil Nedev officially founds in 1894 the Vassilevi Brothers company, naming it after his numerous (11) descendants.
